It’s been revealed that former Mayor of London Ken Livingstone recently came last in his local pub quiz, at the Royal Oak in Islington, after answering ‘Hitler’ to all 50 questions asked.
The quiz contained questions on a variety of topics, such as ‘who was awarded the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize?’ and ‘the film Braveheart is based on the exploits of which historical figure?’ Livingstone answered Hitler to all these questions, receiving just one sympathy mark after the landlord found his answer to ‘who managed Manchester United from 1986 to 2013’ to be ‘quite amusing’.

The landlord, Garry Murphy, admitted to us that the event had been ‘embarrassing’, as he repeatedly had to ask Livingstone not to shout ‘Hitler’ out loud after every question. He added that he can’t remember Livingstone using any word other than ‘Hitler’ for ‘several months’, and as a result has had to develop ‘a new communication system’ with Livingstone saying ‘Hitler’ in a different tone depending on which drink he wants to order. However he added that the quiz had gone ‘a lot better’ than last weeks, which Mr Livingstone had volunteered to prepare, where the only question was ‘outline in at least 12,000 words Hitler’s links to the Zionist movement’.

We did think about approaching Livingstone for comment, but we were pretty sure what his answer would be.
