It’s been revealed that a man recently swapped his first born child for a pint in a central London pub. Speaking exclusively to The Spark Garry Aldridge, an IT worker from Nottingham, explained that he was ‘on a day out in London with my son’ when he ‘suddenly started feeling a bit thirsty’.

Garry and his son popped into the nearest pub, in the Piccadilly Circus area, and ordered a pint of Fosters. However when the barman presented him with the bill Garry realised there was ‘no possible way I could pay it’. He added that he had only just re-mortgaged his house ‘so that wasn’t an option’ and his credit rating was too bad ‘to let me take out another loan’.

As a result Garry realised he had ‘no option’ but to offer his son, 7 year old Tommy Aldridge, in exchange for the drink. The barman explained that Tommy was worth less than the pint, but eventually took sympathy on Garry and agreed to the swap.

Garry expressed confidence that his son would work hard as ‘a good slave’, and would repay the pub for the cost of his pint ‘within 11 to 12 years’.
